“Your desire and ability to listen to Christ’s words says a lot about who you are. True believers respond to Christ’s words; pretenders do not. True believers are alarmed by God’s warnings and return; pretenders do not. True believers sin, but are repentant; pretenders have the moral capacity to continue in their sin until it reveals who they actually are.
Even a little drifting is dangerous, for a little can lead to more. And more can lead to hell.” For rest of article: http://www.christianworldviewnetwork.com/article.php/4329/Brannon-Howse/By-Jim-Elliff

How did people ever do it? To listen to some, there was no sobriety before Alcoholics Anonymous or the 12 Steps.
But there was. We know this from the Bible.
According to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effiminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God.
But then the Word of God says something amazing. 1 Corinthians 6: 11 tells us, Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Such WERE some of you (us).
There are many Christians in “Christ-centered” 12 Step groups who consider the 12 Steps to be an important part of their Christian walk. I ask that you research the origin of A.A. and the 12 Steps. This is not to condemn anyone; but if something were not from Christ, even though it is widely used, would you not want to know?
Christ is sufficient. Christ will keep us safe, as He has me in these last days when I have almost been too depressed to speak. We are flawed human beings. We are not even here for that long in the eternal scheme of things.
I must strongly disagree with author Dick B., author of many books portraying the 12 Steps as Christian in origin. We are in a time when a great sliding away is taking place.
The 12 Steps are a shining piece of that slide.

Why is Anna in the temple?
She’s in there night and day
With worship and in fasting
She kneels down to pray…
For rest of verse: http://mywordlikefire.wordpress.com/2008/09/27/anna-in-the-temple/
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. (Luke 2: 36-37)

Who had rights to royalties from the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book and other books written by Alcoholics Anonymous cofounder Bill Wilson?
According to Pulitzer Prize winner Nan Robertson, “Royalties from Wilson’s books would ultimately give him and [wife] Lois a comfortable home.” (Getting Better: Inside Alcoholics Anonymous, pg. 69)
Robertson notes there was also “…1.5 percent for Helen W., Bill’s last and most enduring mistress.” (pg.69)

Episode Twenty:
“That’s right,” said Roger. “It is written. Sing it.”
Cindy smiled at her husband. She closed her eyes and raised her hands. She began to sing. “Sing unto the Lord, bless His name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.”
“His Salvation,” shouted Roger.
Outside in the yard, startled Christians froze. They gazed fearfully up at the guard towers.
Roger and Cindy smiled at each other. “I’ve loved you for twenty-five years. You know that?”
“I know.” In a sweet, lilting voice, Cindy sang, “Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among the people.”
“That’s right,” yelled Roger. “Made the heavens, yes He did.” It didn’t take long. The guards pulled them out of the tent and beat them right in the yard. Finally, soaked with sweat, they dragged the bleeding, broken couple through the gate and dumped them in the back of a truck.
As the vehicle drove away, Nick Wilson gasped for breath. “Never…beat…people for that long.”
Brutus nodded. He was already thinking of his evening festivities. “If they survive, we are going to make a daily example of them.”
Wilson wiped sweat from his face and stood up. “What’s this?” He pointed to the yard. Two hundred Christians stood together, staring at Nick and Brutus. They began to sing. “Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth.”
Wilson, despite the heat and his racing heart, shuddered involuntarily.
Brutus just shook his head. “Houston, we’ve got a problem here,” he said to no one in particular.
To be continued…maybe…
