Faith Noles: The Faithfulness of God
March 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Faith Noles’ new article is on Rapture Ready. She writes:
“What or who has our nation been trusting in? Has it been our corrupt government or maybe it was your 401K that magically disappeared? It’s not a good feeling to build your hopes on sinking sand. It’s like being in the ocean and the water is waist high and all of the sudden…” Entire Article: http://raptureready.com/soap/noles8.html

Don Koenig: When electricity vanishes…
March 28, 2009 · 1 Comment
“What if you woke up tomorrow and there was no more electricity for the foreseeable future? If you think that is not a real possibility the experts say you are wrong. I already have talked about the possibility of a nuclear EMP weapon that could put America back to conditions in the 19th century. Now a study by NASA and the US National Academy of Science (NAS) tells us…”

The Shack: Jesus “best way,” but not “only way”
March 25, 2009 · 6 Comments
In the novel, ‘The Shack,’ “sin” and “salvation” do not seem to have the Biblical meaning one would naturally assume. In fact, “relationship” seems to be presented as if it were salvation. Yet, Biblically speaking, there can be no relationship without salvation.
In one of most incredible statements in the book, the “christ” of The Shack fails to proclaim salvation is exclusively through him. The “christ” states, “I am the best way any human can relate” to God the Father or the Holy Spirit. (pg. 110) The author does not have his “jesus” say he is the only way, simply that he is the best way.
This is no minor point. But, then, the author has denied the substitutionary Atonement of Christ, and not too many folks are even getting upset over that.
Let’s use the phrase “best way” in some sentences: “The best way to eat pancakes is with maple syrup.” But that is not the only way to eat them. “The best way to Oregon from California is the I-5 highway.” But that is not the only way to get to Oregon from California. “The best way to see the Super Bowl is live and in person.” Yet this is not the only way to see the game.
When the book’s “christ” informs readers he is the “best way” to relate to God the Father and the Holy Spirit, we should not simply nod our heads in agreement and move on.
Jesus tells us, “No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) No one! In Acts, Peter testifies of Jesus, “And there is salvation in no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

The old lady’s dinner from garbage cans
March 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment
My last days on the street were in 1999, in San Diego. It was brutal. But then, so were Portland, New York, and Seattle. Alcohol and heroin may smile for awhile, but they have fangs.
Many years ago I was drinking in an alley in Seattle. I was feeling artificially happy, and the fortified wine was going down in great, enthusiastic gulps. This was my favorite alley. The buildings on both sides were tall, and the alley was like a long gauntlet.
Garbage cans from from various businesses were in the alley, with their rank aroma, and so, to my surprise, was an old lady. She was old to me, maybe in her mid-sixties, and she was going through all the garbage cans. Occasionally she would take something out of a can and place it in her bag.
“Hey,” I said, with loud, drunken friendliness. “What are you doing in the garbage cans?”
She paused for a minute. Finally, she said, “I’m looking for bones for my…dog.”
It took me many years to understand the bones were for her. She was taking them home, boiling them, and slurping down her alley-soup. I ended up taking her to a garbage can behind a teriyaki restaurant. Her “dog” ate well that night.
As it turns out, I was starving myself. You wouldn’t have known it, because I was young, strong, and ate three times a day. But I was starving nonetheless.
Your words were found and I ate them, And your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I have been called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16)
Holy is the Lord our God. Holy is His name.

Father-goddess in the church
March 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment
In the novel, The Shack, the “jesus” says of “God,” “Isn’t she great?” (pg.88)
With all the controversy still raging around this novel, with the author’s admission that he does not believe the Father punished Christ on the cross for our sins, one spiritual goal has been accomplished: The beginning of goddess worship has entered the church. It might not seem like it now. But it has. It surely has.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)
There are three objectives in spreading this theology disguised as a novel amongst God’s people: The introduction of goddess worship; the introduction of a false “christ;” and a denial of the purpose of the cross.
Christians are no longer concerned about the Father-goddess of this book. We are already used to the concept. “It’s just fiction,” you say? Ah, my friend, this is not so. This is a deception that is coursing through the Body of Christ. The apostate church is rising. How is it possible that Christians can defend this book EVEN AFTER THE AUTHOR HAS DENIED SUBSTITUTIONARY ATONEMENT?
This spirit has hissed and seethed its way into hearts before:
As for the message that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we are not going to listen to you! (Jeremiah 44:16)
But rather we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the QUEEN OF HEAVEN and pouring out drink offerings to her… (Jeremiah 44:17)
My friends, don’t you know? Don’t you know Him? He is not that…thing that gibbers in The Shack. What is it? Why do you defend it? Don’t you know there is a gentle Savior, who hurts when you hurt, awaiting you? Open the Bible. While you still can.
