“The controversial best selling novel The Shack by William Paul Young has just reached another milestone: As of May 2, it has spent 100 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list with more than 50 weeks at No. 1. It has also been on Publishers Weekly and USA Today bestseller lists for the same period of time.” (Christian News Northwest June 2010)
The world loves The Shack. Many within the Body of Christ have also embraced this book, despite its anti-Biblical theology.
The author is amiable, well spoken, and a tireless promoter.
But the book needs little help to keep selling. Indeed, it is not a publishing phenomena, but a spiritual phenomena.
The fact that the Father-goddess character could be so easily accepted by Christian leaders is simply an indicator of where we are heading. Think about it: What would the Apostle Paul have said if men crept into churches and presented God the Father like this?
But, in fairness, the author of The Shack didn’t creep anywhere–churches wooed him, sought him, eagerly invited him to speak.
When the movie comes, and it will, with its wondrous special effects, its subversive message, and a multi-million dollar promotional campaign, the spiritual ramifications will be profound. If there aren’t that many pro and con articles on the book being written or posted these days, it is not because The Shack has gone away.
It has not. And will not.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightfully dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

It is a terrible, and amazing, time. People raise their fists to the holy God, and shout, “I am free of you…” Now, more than ever, is the time to know His Word. We have to do our part in reaching the lost with the truth. As for the apostates, well, it is almost beyond belief what some in the church (?) are trying to “teach”…
The continued acceptance and promotion of this blasphemy is just another indicatation that GOD has abandoned America as Dr John MacArthur preached in a sermon at least two years ago. We definitely are in the last times as we see Apostacy abounding everywhere.
Thank you.
In an email conversation with a friend earlier today, his was the same defense of The Shack, to whit he was quoted the same scripture as here quoted by this author.
Notably, it was brought to his attention:
“Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” 2 Tim 2:14-16
The Shack is “profane and vain babblings”. The is but one Truth, and no Truth (of God) can be wrought from error (the Shack). Those who believe they have gained Truth from the Shack, have gained it in error.
Michael
Friendship with world is enmity towards God – so many churches have cut this passage out their Bibles. But the world loves those who deceive many, hence the danger in accepting any best selling book that claims to be Christian.
Not often enough does the world tell the truth about its own, but sometimes, as in the picture here: http://brogdensmuse.menofhonorministry.org/Apologetics/Truth_in_the_News.htm
