NIV also problem now, not just The Message

Record numbers have come to this blog to learn about The Message–particularly its omission of passages concerning homosexual sin, and insertion of what seems almost nature/earth reverence. (READ)

Yet, the NIV may ultimately prove at least as damaging as The Message. You may already have purchased one of the new (?) versions of the NIV, and these changes may just be the beginning.

Eric Barger warns about this. I hope you have time to consider this very important article. (READ_ABOUT_NIV)

I love my NASB. But the way things are going, we would probably be a lot better off if we had stayed with just the KJV.

Apparently, some believe the NIV scriptures don’t entirely belong to God. Here is what BibleGateway informs us:

“These Scriptures are copyrighted by the Biblica, Inc.™ and have been made available on the Internet for your personal use only. Any other use including, but not limited to, copying or reposting on the Internet is prohibited. These Scriptures may not be altered or modified in any form and must remain in their original context. These Scriptures may not be sold or otherwise offered for sale.” (COPYRIGHT)

There you have it. We are warned that “copying or reposting on the internet is prohibited.” (Bold mine) People like Martin Luther, Wycliffe, and Tyndale fought hard, so that we could freely share the Word of God. Between aberrations like The Message, and economic entities controlling (and altering) the Word of God, we may soon have quite a bit in common with these reformers.

  1. i am posting your comment, and you may well be correct. When they tell me I cannot use “their” version, even briefly over the internet, this is a problem.

  2. Copyright law requires that a “new” version of any previously published work must be at least 20% different than the original work. Did you see that? Better read that sentence again. Then look at every single Bible version in print today and what do you notice?? Every one is copyrighted – except the KJV. So for people to qualify for a copyright under the law, their version of God’s Word must be at least 20% different than what went before.

I have used the word “version” for a reason. A true “translation” into a new language from the old texts would not require a copyright – and thus would not be such a moneymaker. Because that is the only reason people want a copyright on their work – for the $$.

Thus, knowing how the law works, you can clearly see that man’s words are being substituted for God’s Words all in the name of the Almighty Dollar. Is it any wonder that so many thousands of NIVs/NASBs/etc. are sold each year and our country is sliding ever faster toward the pit??
