Come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord

“We found that God does not make too hard terms with those who seek Him. To us, the Realm of the Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to those who earnestly seek. It is open, we believe, to all men. When, therefore, we speak to you of God, we mean your own conception of God.” –From the “Big Book,” the A.A. “bible,” pg.46-47 (Bold mine)

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord… (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)

  1. First of all, no one seeks God, none. “THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD” Romans 3:11 God is the one who draws the sinner to Christ {John 6:44}.

“To us, the Realm of the Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive” how utterly false is this comment! What did Christ Himself teach us in Matthew 7 – “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Anyone who seeks freedom from the bondage of sin, in this case, drunkenness, in a man-made method will never be free. They will become slaves to endless meetings, support groups, sponsors, rituals, methods, etc. All the while, they live in fear of their addiction, oftentimes trading addictions, i.e., from alcohol to pills, or even making A.A. their addiction, their ‘god’. May the grace and mercy of Almighty God open those blind eyes and deaf ears; there is only One who can truly free us from sin’s grip…Christ and Christ alone!!

    Bless you brother,
    lyn
