Why do some pastors allow A.A. meetings to be held in the church? Because they believe sobriety and salvation may result. And because they have never considered, or have ignored, the numerous scriptural prohibitions against such a thing. (2 Corinthians 6:14-17, Galatians 1:6-9, Isaiah 42:8)

Why does the Lord not want us drinking out of the same spiritual cup as the world? Why does the Lord not want us exposed to numerous false “higher powers”? In this ”A.A. General Services Conference approved literature,” the author of  A Member’s Eye View of Alcoholics Anonymous answers, albeit unintentionally, these questions:

“In fact, I am convinced that the greater a member’s years [in A.A.], the less important the nature of this power becomes.”

The less important the nature of God becomes?

Participation in A.A. spirituality often results in dilution of our understanding, knowledge, and love of God. In fact, this is what has already happened to the Body of Christ. In The Fall of the Evangelical Nation, secular author Christine Wicker credits Alcoholics Anonymous with “hastening the fall of the evangelical church.” (pg. 134-138)

Wicker states A.A.’s Twelve Step program “slowly exposed people to the notion that they could get the [higher power] without the dogma, the doctrine, and the outdated rules. Without the church in fact.” This has removed the authority and influence of “the preacher and the Bible and tradition.” (pg. 134-38)

Incredible, then, that we now have pastors who are themselves helping hasten this process by inviting the A.A. religion into the church.

But that isn’t satisfactory, not at all. Nor is it that simple.

Francis Hartigan was the secretary for Lois Wilson, Bill’s wife, for thirteen years. He had many conversations with Lois about Bill. He writes, “[A.A. co-founder Bill Wilson's] belief in God might have become unshakeable, but he could never embrace any theology or even the divinity of Jesus, and he went to his grave unable to give his own personal idea of God much definition. In this sense, he was never very far removed from the unbelievers.” [2] (Bold mine)

Christians who rationalize that it is okay to participate in A.A., or pastors who allow A.A. to hold meeting in churches, are in disobedience to the Lord.  (2 Corinthians 6:14-17, Galatians 1:6-9, Isaiah 42:8)

There are many myths protecting A.A.–not the least of which is the program’s alleged effectiveness. Portrayed as something that works, if a person will simply “work the program,” Alcoholics Anonymous discourages development of treatment alternatives, and continues to point millions away from Jesus Christ.

Did A.A. co-founders Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith care about alcoholics? Absolutely. But A.A. and the Twelve Steps came from an unholy place, and many of us do not want to face this.

Anyone who seeks freedom from the bondage of sin, in this case, drunkenness, in a man-made method will never be free. They will become slaves to endless meetings, support groups, sponsors, rituals, methods, etc. All the while, they live in fear of their addiction, oftentimes trading addictions, i.e., from alcohol to pills, or even making A.A. their addiction, their ‘god’. May the grace and mercy of Almighty God open those blind eyes and deaf ears; there is only One who can truly free us from sin’s grip…Christ and Christ alone!!

So, this is how it will be. The thing behind The Shack continues to writhe its way into the Body of Christ. It is, in retrospect, very significant that this novel includes communication with the dead.

The Father-goddess of The Shack–the Queen of Heaven–has brought much more than the beginning of goddess worship into the church; much more than a “god” who does not punish sin.

Yes, The Shack is but one component. It all runs together–blending, compromising, a sly rebellion against the Holy One and His Word.

Men such as Greg Laurie and Chuck Missler endorse another book [1] where the authors claim their dead son is communicating with the living. This book is also endorsed by the author of The Shack.

Now, as we can see over at Discernit, Perry Stone and his father talk about the spirit of a dead guy who supposedly had a message for Fred Stone, and we hear about Fred Stone’s heavenly visit, where he read from a new book…. You will have to see this to believe it. click_to_watch_video

Prepare for ever-increasing acceptance of  revelation(?) from the dead. Prepare yourself for this as well: It will be claimed that these apparitions, these visitations, these experiences, are granted from God Himself…so all His biblical prohibitions against necromancy and spiritism will no longer have meaning.

In other words, welcome to the New de-Reformation–where “experience” trumps the Bible.

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.”  (Leviticus 19:31)

Yet, the A.A. Big Book (the A.A. “bible”) again makes a direct reference to this spiritual Broad Highway: “If our testimony helps sweep away prejudice, enables you to think honestly, encourages you to search diligently within yourself, then, if you wish, you can join us on the Broad Highway. With this attitude you cannot fail. The consciousness of your belief is sure to come to you.” (pg. 55) (Bold mine)
